Criminology is division of science which deals with crime and its prevention and  Forensic science is a part in criminology, as it helps the criminologist to learn and utilize the evidences logically. With significant growth in crime rate and criminals becoming even smarter than cops and judges, the role of forensic experts has increased exponentially and India is facing an acute shortage of forensic scientists who can help courts in deciding the criminal cases. There are several job opportunities for professionals in this field as research assistant, forensic scientist, criminologist, investigator and an approaching profession in various governments, private and public sector organizations such as private investigation agencies, CBI, AIIMS, police, etc.

Who Should join?

  • Both undergraduate (BA/B.Sc) and postgraduate ( MA/M.Sc) courses in Criminology and Forensic Science are offered by various institutes.
  • The basic requirement for getting admission to an undergraduate course is Class XII with either arts or science.
  • For admission to a PG course, one has to be a graduate with science or arts subjects.
  • One can also do a diploma course where one needs to have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks.
    You should also have ability to study/analyse data.
